What are "matters of the mind"?
“Matters of the mind” are systems or realms of human thought (such as philosophy and ethics) and also include major social issues on which there are intense differences of opinion (social controversies). They include concepts, values, and ideals; disputes, debates, and contentions.Issues that I will discuss in this blog include:
- religion - its benefits and detriments to society
- ethics - the meanings of right and wrong, good and bad; basis of morality
- philosophy - its relevance in modern society
- God - His/Her nature and attributes; whether He/She exists or not
- politics - the purpose of government; Is government necessary?; anarcho-communism; cooperative democracy
- war - military ethics (Is war morally good or not?); purposes of war; good and bad causes for war
- mental health - What is mental health? What is mental illness? What are some causes of depression?
- suicide - Why do it? Is it ever morally good? Is it even a bad thing to do?
- and so much more
Disclaimer: What I write here is solely my opinion and is not to be construed as legal, medical, psychological, or other professional advice. Moreover, I am not an authority on morality, religion, or philosophy.

Welcome to Matters of the Mind. I intend for this to be a community where people feel free to express their opinions and even engage in vigorous debates. However, there are some guidelines.
1. Be respectful.
2. Stay on-topic.
